Tim obtained both his BA Hons (First Class, Sport Science) and Ph.D. (Sport Psychology) from the University of Wales, before taking up his post in the School of Sport and Health Sciences at University of Exeter in 2000. Tim has published in Journal of Applied Sport Psychology, Journal of Sports Sciences, Psychology of Sport and Exercise, Research Quarterly for Exercise and Sport, and The Sport Psychologist. He has presented papers in Belfast, Cape Cod, Clermont-Ferrand, Cologne, Copenhagen, Nashville, Skiathos, and Vancouver, and in 2007 he was invited to present on social support and sports performance to the British Psychological Society Annual Conference. Tim is a member of the Journal of Sport & Exercise Psychology Digest Panel, and is on the Editorial Board of the Sport and Exercise Psychology Review. He has made numerous appearances and provided expert input for national television and radio, national and local newspapers, as well as magazine articles in the UK and the USA. Before entering university, Tim was a full-time tennis player and coach. He also played hockey, winning junior indoor and outdoor National Championships, and captaining both his divisional (South-East) and University sides. Tim lectures at Exeter on sport psychology and quantitative research methods, and is the Programme Director for the MSc in Sport and Health Sciences.
