Exeter Biomechanics Research Team (ExBiRT)
The aim of the Exeter Biomechanics Research Team is to further the understanding of overuse injury mechanisms of the lower limb, facilitating the identification of interventions for reducing the incidence of sports and exercise related injury and informing treatment and rehabilitation.
To contribute to an increased understanding of injury mechanisms, the work of the Exeter Biomechanics Research Team focuses on two related areas:
1. An improved understanding of the factors associated with the development of overuse injuries.
2. An increased understanding of the influence of footwear/insert/surface manipulation on movement and loading of lower extremity structures.
