We decided to spend the next day in and around Rhodes town then drive back to Pefkos along the coast.
Rhodes town has two harbours, Mandraki harbour with deer statues at the entrance and a larger harbour where the cruise ships and ferries stop.

Our guide book suggested a walk around Rhodes old town entering through St Mary's gate (Pıli Panagías). This sounded like a good plan except none of the gates seem to be named! Having tried 6 entrances we gave up and walked through one of the gates by the outer harbour.

Having left the old town late in the afternoon we stopped at one of the excellent cafe's along the promenade for a delicious cake and refreshing drink before driving to Rhodes acropolis.
