Also known as Exmoor Wheal Eliza and initially as Wheal Maria. Shafts and adits on north bank of River Barle one mile southeast of Simonsbath. Plus trial adits at 789377 and 79503775. Opened up for copper in 1846 but may have been site of earlier working. Worked ceased in 1855, no workable quantity of copper being found. Prospected for iron by Schneider and Hannay in 1856-57 without success. Remains of pumping waterwheel pit and shafthead with rising main and pump rod still in situ.
