Also known as New Combmartin and West Combmartin. Shafts and adit 2-300yds south of West Challacombe Farm; shaft below Lester Cliff; adits in cliff at Lester Point and at Wild Pear Beach. Site of ancient working for silver-lead; trials made by Gullet 1790-92; and Combmartin and North Devon Mining Co. in 1843, abandoned in 1845. Further trials for silver-lead 1853-54. Promoted as New Combmartin Silver-lead Mine 1864-66; further working 1873,74 and 76-8, as West Combmartin.
