EDCs stimulate European awareness and the study of Europe in academic institutions. All are open to members of the general public and students from other institutions. They have an extensive reference collection of all major official publications from EU institutions, including the Official journal of the European Communities and European Court reports. EDCs are, however, not able to offer specialised consultancy-type advice for business and may direct visitors to another source of information if necessary. Although Exeter University's EDC is located in the Law Library (Amory Building) the material supplied by the European Commission concerns all areas of EU policy. The following selected list of material received this year indicates the subject areas covered. Monographs are all catalogued and classified separately and are mostly available for loan to members of the university. Full details are available through the library catalogue. COM and CES documents are shelved in separate sequence and are for reference use only.
