Below are photographs of India taken during a two week visit in November 2006. Flying to Kolkata (Calcutta) and staying on the outskirts in Serampore to catch up with family and enjoying festivals. Heading north by overnight train from Howrah station to New Jalpaiguri, then making our way to Sikkim (sadly one in the group was refused permission at the checkpoint). We proceed to Darjeeling, spending a few days here before travelling to Kurseong by toy train. Kalimpong, Lava and Lolegaon are the next towns we visit; Lolegaon features spectacular views of Kangchenjunga (the 3rd highest mountain in the world). We then descend towards Siliguri, to spend a day before catching a train back to Kolkata. There is a brief description of the trip on Nac's blog.
