Below are photographs taken in March 2005 of the first visit to mainland China. The holiday unfortunately began with a nearly 2 hour long queue for immigration at Shanghai Pudong airport, then to discover some luggage failed to make the connection from Munich airport.
A week was spent discovering the sights of an incredibly crowded Shanghai and also sampling the local cuisine. The second week consisted of travelling by train to Kaifeng, Zhengzhou and Luoyang in Henan province to see the Shaolin temple and Longmen Grottoes.
