IST/5/-/15 Input to the IST/5 Business Plan, 1993


	Objective:

	To monitor and input to the progress of the ISO/IEC JTC1/SC22/WG15
	(Posix) work on behalf of IST/5, to which the Panel is responsible.


	Existing Standards:

	ISO 9945-1:1990 	(Posix System Interface)    Under revision.


	Key Deliverables/Milestones for 1993:

	The emerging  Posix  Standard  is  composed  of the  output from a
	number	of  separate work  items assigned to WG15.   A very few of
	these are  distinct, self-contained  documents;  the majority (for
	example 22.21.01.03.01, Transparent File Access)  are amendments -
	true revisions - of parts of other components to offer	additional
	functionality.

	The  set  of  components  has  the  support  of  the International
	community, including and not limited to the USA,  Germany, France,
	Canada,  Japan	and the  UK:  the standards  are required, and the
	work  to produce  the base  documents  is supported  by government
	departments, system vendors and users across the community.

	The  following	table attempts	to show  WG15's work  schedule, as
	outlined at its meeting in October 1992.
