Dear Posix panel member, At the November Panel meeting I was actioned to write to all members to remind them that the UK has been asked to consider hosting an ISO/IEC JTC1/SC22/WG15 (Posix) meeting. The purpose of this letter is to ask panel members if their organisations are willing and able to offer meeting accommodation to WG15 for one of the forthcoming dates: either . 12th to 16th October 1992 or . 26th to 30th October 1992 . March/April 1993 . Spring 1994 . Autumn 1994 WG15 needs: . one room capable of seating about thirty delegates in boardroom style, complete with OHP and chalkboard, for the week of the meeting. . three breakout rooms capable of seating up to ten delegates each for the first four days of the week. . access to a photocopier capable of accepting both A4 and US paper input, double-sided. . access to a fast, reasonably good quality, personal computer printer would be helpful. (Many delegates prepare papers on portable PCs for presentation during the meetings). . nearby lunch facilities are required; delegates are normally expected to pay for their own meals. . a supply of coffee and tea, etc. nearby would be much appreciated. . easy access to local hotels, and to an international airport, would be an advantage. Some background details are appended, meanwhile thank you very much for your help. Yours faithfully, David Cannon, BSI IST/5/-/15 Convenor IST/5 (our parent BSI committee) agreed at its June meeting that it would be appropriate to invite ISO WG15 to hold one of its 1993 or 1994 meetings in the UK, either March/April 1993 or one of the two meetings (Spring or Autumn) in 1994. WG15 resolved at its Stockholm meeting to investigate holding 'conjunctive' IEEE Posix and WG15 meetings at least once a year, in order to improve synchronisation of the two standards processes. WG15 noted that there is an IEEE meeting in Europe from the 19th to 23rd October 1992, to be held in Utrecht, Holland. WG15 regards the UK as being sufficiently close to Holland to permit a 'conjunctive' meeting and therefore, if Holland is unable to host WG15 as well as the IEEE, the UK may be asked to host a meeting of WG15 adjacent to this IEEE meeting, either in the preceding week (12th to 16th October) or in the following week, (26th to 30th October).
