WG20 is working on cultural conventions to be used in Information Technology,
and have appreciated the work done in the field by WG15.

WG20 is planning to issue a "cultural convention specification" standard which will
include all of ISO/IEC 9945-2:1993 locale and charmap specifications, together with
other internationalization functionalities, in a backward compatible way.

It is WG20's hope that as soon as the WG20 standard is approved, the relevant part
of the POSIX standard be replaced by a reference to the new standard for the
specification of cultural conventions.  In order to achieve an optimum solution, it is
essential that WG15 and WG20 cooperate closely.

WG20 would appreciate WG15's view of this policy.
