SC22/WG15 N655 Japan Action Item Report 9510-06 Member Bodies - submit issues on synchronization in writing or to the reflector by April 8, 1996. No additional issues will be considered under the synchronization agenda item at the May, 1996 meeting. Japan has no issues with the synchronization plan. 9510-08 Member Bodies - provide URLs and other information they would like posted to the WG15 web page. Japan member body does not have any URLs to be referenced by WG15 Web pages now. The preparation work is under way. 9510-10 Member Bodies - review the full N595 document and the liaison report N607 and submit written contributions to be used to form the WG15 response to SC22 for a common plan of work within CEN/TC304. L/11113b Message interface with localisers. XPG4 has message interfaces. If the X/Open Single UNIX Specification will be incorporated into POSIX, they should be part of them. Japan does not desire to create new message interfaces. L/1312 Update POSIX to cover more cultural conventions. Japan thinks that WG15 can handle this item as a normal comment/proposal to the draft standards. Without any specific requirements or defects, Japan finds no reason to work on the item within WG15. WG20 will be more appropriate place to work on this item in general. L/132 Formal specification techniques for cultural data. Japan thinks that WG15 can review the output produced by WG20. L/2111b Guidelines on national specification of cultural conventions. The scope of the work in WG15 and the role of WG15RIN should be discussed in the early phase of the development. It is not known that CEN proposal is appropriate to be covered within the WG15 work item at this moment. L/212 International cultural registry It is not clear how the cultural registry will be referenced by the POSIX standards. Japan thinks that the guideline work should be completed first. L/31 Update POSIX to include locale default rules Japan does not have a problem in the current specification which is to fallback to C locale. L/3131 Guide on conversion between UCS coding forms. It seems WG15 has no relation to this work item because POSIX is codeset independent. L/332 Support for locale registry in POSIX operating system Japan thinks that the work for "Guidelines for POSIX national profile and national locales" should be completed first. Because the relation between POSIX national profile and POSIX locale is not clear at this moment. 9510-11 Member Bodies - review N596 and provide written comments or extensions for the May, 1996 meeting. No comments. 9510-12 Member Bodies and X/Open Liaison - review N622 in the context of providing an ISO specification in alignment with the Single Unix Specification and come to the May, 1996 meeting with a preferred tactical method to achieve this (if appropriate). N622 failed to refer to ISO/IEC 9899:1990 Amendment 1. The standard is important for internationalization and most of them are incorporated into the Single Unix Specification already. Since the Amendment is an ISO standard, Japan believes that POSIX standards (.1 and .2) should be aligned at least with the Amendment. As for overall alignment with the Single Unix Specification, Japan has no idea about the tactical method. 9510-33 Member Bodies - identify appropriate users (of profiles) and seek feedback from them in the R&C process on how the profiles meet (or do not meet) their needs. (from RGCPA issue #2) No input from Japan. [End]
