ISO/IEC SC22/WG15 N653 From: Dave Rayner Subject: (wg15-uk 1006) (SC22WG15.810) Liaison to SC22/WG15 from EWOS/EGCT Date: Thu, 09 May 96 10:00:53 +0100 (BST) Liaison Report to SC22/WG15 from EWOS/EGCT During 1995 there were two EWOS work items within the Expert Group on Conformance Testing which were relevant to the POSIX testing community. These were to produce an Open Systems Environment (OSE) Conformance Testing Analysis report and a companion OSE Conformance Testing Vocabulary to replace the earlier EWOS OSI Conformance Testing Vocabulary. Both these work items resulted in documents which were approved by the December EWOS Technical Assembly for publication as EWOS Technical Guides (ETG 059 and ETG 009 R2, respectively). Copies of these will be provided to SC22/WG15 in separate e.mail messages, for information. Although early on in the work liaison with SC22/WG15 was quite effective, and various helpful comments were received, attempts to get someone from SC22/WG15 to attend one of the EWOS weeks failed (largely because of clashing dates) and after the summer of 1995 no more written liaisons were received. Thus, in EWOS we had gained the impression of a lack of interest in SC22/WG15, but recent contact with David Cannon indicates that this may have been mistaken. We apologise for any misunderstanding that arose. Currently there is no plan to work further on OSE Conformance Testing. EGCT is now concentrating on: a) more cost-effective testing, bringing conformance and interoperability testing closer together; b) interoperability testing in the context of the Global Information Infrastructure; c) guidance on quality of EWOS specifications; d) guidance on the 2nd edition of TTCN and on how to use TTCN with the latest ASN.1; e) monitoring three European Commission Infrastructure Tools projects; f) close liaison with ETSI. ------------------------------------------------ Dave Rayner Chairman of EWOS/EGCT and ECITC/OTL Head of Information Systems Engineering CMOT National Physical Laboratory Teddington, Middlesex, UK, TW11 0LW tel. +44 181 943 7040 fax. +44 181 977 7091 ------------------------------------------------
