DATE: 3 May 1995 EWOS/EGCT is now progressing two documents which are expected to be of interest to SC22/WG15. The first is a draft of an EWOS Technical Guide on Open System Environment Conformance Testing. This analyses what testing methodologies exist which are applicable to the four interface types of OSE, where the gaps are, where there are conflicts of terminology and concepts, and how these issues might be resolved. This document is expected to become stable in the June EWOS week and will then be sent to SC22/WG15 for information and comment. The second document is a revision of the EWOS Technical Guide on Conformance Testing Vocabulary. This is being expanded to include all the terminology applicable to OSE conformance testing. It does not define any new terms or provide any new definitions, it merely collects together appropriate terms and definitions from relevant standards. It particular, it already includes the terms from ISO/IEC 9646-1 (for OSI), IEEE P2003 (for POSIX), ISO/IEC DTR 10000-1.3 and ISO/IEC DTR 10000-3 (for OSE), and ISO/IEC DTR 13233 (for IT&T testing laboratory accreditation). Further additions will be made in June and then this document also can be sent to SC22/WG15 for information and comment. Could SC22/WG15 identify whether there are other sources of POSIX testing terminology and definitions which should be used in addition to (or instead of) IEEE P2003? We look forward to a fruitful dialogue on these matters and would welcome a representative of SC22/WG15 to attend our next meeting. The EWOS/EGCT meeting will run from 26-30 June, with the afternoon of Tuesday 27 June devotes to OSE conformance testing issues, when we meet jointly with EWOS/EGOSE.
