To date 41 POSIX locales have been collected, originating from a number of ISO/IEC member bodies, and with a number of privately submitted locales. The locales originating from offical standards bodies includes submissions from the national standards instuitutes of the following countries: Austria, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Iceland, Japan, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, Sweden. The privately submitted locales come mainly from one source, Keld Simonsen, who is a WG15 member and also appointed editor of the CEN cultural elements registry standard and has as a CEN/TC304/WG2 action item to collect locale information form CEN members and associated members. These locales cover CEN member and associated member countries (most of Europe) and a few other countries. Also a Japanese locale has been collected from Japanese industry sources. 1 National profile has been collected from the Japanese member body. Aboutr 150 Charmaps have been collected from Inter-Nordic Standardisation (INSTA) projects on character set conversion and cultural elements, managed by Danish Stan- dards Association. All the information is available electronically by ftp and email from the site dkuug.dk - in the directory i18n, and this is described both in the ISO/IEC 9945-1:1990 and ISO/IEC 9945-2:1993 standards.
