DRAFT Danish comments on WG15 N352r ISO WG15 - IEEE PASC Syncronization Plan u22a11 POSIX WG Danish Standards (DS) Prepared for the WG15 meeting in May-93 1. Introduction We have two comments/proposals: (1) Distribution af PAR's with scope (2) Distribution af Working Drafts 2. Distribution / Approval of PAR As mentioned under "2. Processing stages up to final adoption" one the early stages of a POSIX project is the definition of scope etc. and approval of an IEEE PAR. We believe that ISO and IEEE procedures should be syncronized somewhat at this "relevant processing stage" by the distribution of the PAR for review and comment in WG15 (or SC22). To do this in a timely fashion, discussion and resolutions should by made by email/fax. The objectives are quit natural: - improve visibility in ISO - improve coordination between ISO SC22 and IEEE PASC especially regarding the scope and document structure - make it possible for WG15 and other WG's in ISO to develop relevant, syncronized NP's where needed and to PLAN With this it should be possible to send ISO SC22/WG15 comments to IEEE PASC before the approval of a PAR. 3. Distribution of working drafts Regarding "1. Availability of Working Documents" and "2.2.6 Early Working draft distribution (1.1)" we believe that the ISO Working Draft mechanism should be used much more extensively to distribute IEEE PASC/WG drafts. Increased visibility, partipation (?) AND most important registration of selected drafts as official ISO documents. I.E. this is what we are working on / considering. We suggest that the distribution as a WD should occur at relevant intervals not including neccesarily ALL IEEE WG drafts, but beginning from draft no. 1 or such. Often the interval would be once every 6-18 months (usually shorter than a year probably).
