as WG15 N342 - the title shall be "Liaison statement to SGFS re National Profiles" by Andrew Walker, instead of "X/Open Issues re National Profiles" by Andrew Twigger.) and has received the response from SGFS (SGFS N755 = WG15 N344), which indicates that SGFS does not intend to define the concept of national profiles, and Whereas, RIN believes that with the SGFS response in mind, it is very much important to give a clear and consistent position to the concept of National Profiles throughout entire POSIX standards, and Whereas, as described in WG15 N342, RIN has identified that at this moment among several major POSIX.x documents regarding "profiling works", such as POSIX.0, POSIX.1, POSIX.2 and POSIX.18, there are neither sufficient descriptions nor the definition of National Profile, and Whereas, RIN is proposing the NWI Proposal (NP) for establishing a Technical Report of type 3 entitled "Guidelines for POSIX National Profiles and National Locales", documenting the clear definition of National Profile and related terms using the POSIX framework and written in accordance with POSIX.0 Guide and its terminology, Therefore, RIN requests WG15 to forward these two documents (WG15 N342, N344) plus the NP for GPNPNL (WG15 N____) to the POSIX.0 technical editor (through the US National Body) for appropriate incorporation and/or consideration of such National Profile related terms and descriptions. _______________________________________________________________________ Resolution.RIN9305-4: Collation weights ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Whereas, it is specified in ISO/IEC DIS 9945-2 that the Utility Limit Minimum Value, Table 2-17, that the maximum number of weights that can be assigned to an entry of the LC_COLLATE order keyword in the locale definition file is 2, and Whereas, the value of 2 is insufficient to process any natural language collation sequence, Therefore, RIN requests WG15 to notify the US Development body that the collation weight is dependent on the language of the country and that Canada requires a minimum weight of 7. _______________________________________________________________________ Resolution.RIN9305-5: 'C' Liaison to UniForum, X/Open JIG ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Whereas RIN requires a liaison to UniForum and a liaison to X/Open JIG, Therefore, RIN requests that WG15 designate a 'C' liaison to UniForum and a 'C' liaison to X/Open JIG. _______________________________________________________________________ Resolution.RIN9305-6: Thanks ----------------------------------------------------------------------- RIN thanks Mr. Patric Dempster for chairing the meeting; Mr. Andy Bihain for acting as secretary for the meeting; Captain Lionel Boiteau and Mr. Yasushi Nakahara for participating on the Drafting Committee; and IBM for hosting the meeting. _______________________________________________________________________
