ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC22/WG15 N307 WG15 PROJECT EDITOR'S REPORT -- OCTOBER 1992 Hal Jespersen This report describes progress in editorial matters and satisfaction of action items from the Hamilton meeting. 1. Hamilton Action Items: Action 9205-24: Project Editor: Forward N281 and N282 to the SC22 Secretariat. [Disposition of Comments on CD 9945-2 and Amd. 1.] Completed. Action 9205-26: Project editor to add an informative annex to CD 9945-2 to indicate functionality that is under consideration to satisfy previously identified requirements and to distribute, by email, a preliminary version to National Bodies by 05/15/92. Completed: Annex H is in DIS 9945-2. 2. Updates on Previous [Closed] Action Items: Action 9105-19: [Coordinate the document structure required for inclusion of test methods in future WG15-sponsored standards.] The U.S. has begun to implement my recommendations on test methods organization and a number of new project numbers have been assigned. The first revision of IEEE Std 1003.3 has been designated project P2003, and this 2003 series will be used for POSIX test methods (2003.1 for 1003.1 tests, 2003.2 for 1003.2, etc.). I do not have numbers preassigned from ITTF for the corresponding WG15 documents. Action 9111-51: [Reorganization of 9945-1 language-independent version.] After receiving no WG15 member comments on the proposed reorganization, as described in my May 1992 report and in Draft 6 of the Document Structure Plan, I informed the U.S. that it was OK to go ahead with this reorganization. The new organization is now represented in P1003.1LIS/D3 and P1003.16/D3, both dated July 1992. Action 9111-47: [Portability Annex]. I was asked to propose actions required to satisfy the TSG-1 Final Report Annex A and JTC 1 requirements for annexes concerning portability information. I accomplished this with informative Annex F in P1003.2/D11.3, which was distributed at the May meeting. After receiving no comments from the WG15 members, I submitted this annex as part of DIS 9945-2 and intend to promote it as a detailed template for the other parts of 9945. The U.S. POSIX editors have copies and I hope a version of the annex for 9945-1 will be available in the near future. 3. Other Matters: a. I have not updated the Document Structure Plan since the last meeting because there have been insufficient changes to warrant it. Draft 6, May 1992, is still current. There is still some turbulence in chapter number assignments for future 9945-1 versions. b. IEEE Std 1003.2-1992 was approved by the IEEE Standards Board in September. The process of editorial review with the IEEE Project Editor should occur in the next few months and I hope the standard will be published officially in early 1993. There will be no normative changes in this editing process. If/when DIS 9945-2 is approved as an IS in mid-1993, I would propose using the cleaned up text in the IEEE standard as the basis for the IS.
