JTC1/SC22/WG15 N033R Plan for Resolution of Comments to DIS 9945-1 DIS 9945-1 was approved for registration as an IS with substantial consensus, but with an objection concerning document format, and with a substantial number of comments. The following plan, plus associated resolutions, is a plan for resolving the large number of comments concerning DIS 9945-1, and also to deal with the issues of document format, while not delaying the standard. 1) Ask the ISO-CS to register DIS 9945-1, as an IS with notice that it will be revised in the near future. (This might be a reference standard, or may be the current 9945-1 draft.) 2) Request the SC22 Secretariat to register a Draft Addendum to IS 9945-1 for immediate balloting by JTC1 (N34R). This would be provided by the U.S. National Body. This should colde before the June 1990 JTC1/SC22/WG15 meeting. 3) Ask the U.S. National Body to: a) Provide N34R (1003.1a) as soonas possible. b) Keep the IEEE ballot open until the June 1990 JTC1/SC22/WG15 meeting to assure synchronization between the IEEE and ISO documents. 4) Review "contentious" N34R issues in the October 1989 JTC1/SC22/WG15 meeting to help assure approval of the Draft Addendum. 5) Ask National Bodies to review N34R and to inform the document editor of problems before the Draft Addendum is submitted. 6) Plan on approval at the June 1990 meeting; inform the ISO-CS that a final formal document will be targeted as an output from the June 1990 meeting. 7) Request the document editor to provide a preliminary document that would be the combination of IS 9945-1 and N34R in a format acceptable to the ISO-CS, for mailing to Heads of Delegations as soon as possible. 8) If there are no objections to the technical content of N34R, these will be resolved at the June 1990 meeting, considering dropping of selected changes in N34R as a possible alternative, with the intent of exiting that meeting with all issues resolved.
