The WG15 Questionnaire (SC22/WG15 N214) was delivered within SC22 as SC22/N1217 in August "for information to SC22 Member Bodies" at the SC22 9208 Plenary meeting, I believe. Please note that the SC22/N1217 document includes the following WG15 materials. WG15 N278 - Report on Internationalization Work within ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC22/WG15, May 6 1992 WG15 N214 - National Conventions Questionnaire, October 1991 WG15 N217 - Summary of Some Internationalization Mechanism in POSIX, October 1991 WG15 N280 - RIN Proposed Terms of Reference, May 7 1992 Unfortunately SC22/N1217 did not ask SC22 Member Bodies to response back on the WG15 National Conventions Questionnaire, with which I was disappointed. Anyway I hope this will help you all. | 1, Is it mailed out already (not circulation of draft, but official copy) | | 2, If yes, when is the target date for reply ? | | 3, If no, when will it be mailed out ? | why it is taking such a long time ? See the above. | Anyway, Donn said that our questinair about just an itemized cultural | element do not have any conflict with what he used to work on, so, | I will proceed for our oun whatever WG15 questinair is going on, | but for reference purpose, still I like to know what's going on. | | | Sato Sato-san and other WG20 experts, I have been very sorry that I could not attend/join the WG20 meetings/discussions in a timely fashion due to another urgent jobs like WG15 (POSIX). As you know I18N/L10N features are in cross functional arena. I don't know why the God punished human being for the Tower of Babel like this. Since then we have been suffering from different languages worldwide. Are we going to build another Tower of Babel in the computer world? Who knows the next punishment of the God for it? I wish I could ask the God for *real* answer to the I18N/L10N issues! May God bless you all, in particular, those who are struggling for mutual understanding of human being through different natural/computer languages! Thanks. Yasushi Nakahara TOSHIBA Corp.
