Sorry for the very late input, but I hope I'm not too late to discuss these things by email. [Keld as a head of RIN rapporteur, to accelerate RIN discussions and to make RIN activities more productive, I would suggest that you *big* Rapporteur might more periodically encourage people to do their homeworks and/or action items by sending something like a *follow-up* email or by setting suitable due date even for submission of intermediate status report. Also I have another idea in my mind, we may set up every 10th and 18th of each month, as working (status checking) days for L10N/I18N issues of POSIX, i.e. L10N/I18N days, world wide (or every 15th for WG15?). All the concerned people may sit for his/her terminal to read/write related documents/emails. This may be a *joke*, but we should consider seriously how to coordinate our activities more effectively and productively, I think. As you know, we are too busy, and besides we all may have financial problems to attend overseas meeting due to recession world wide, which would make it impossible to increase a number of our meetings.] | Date: Wed, 17 Jun 92 18:40:58 +0200 | From: Keld J|rn Simonsen | To: sc22wg15rin@dkuug.dk | Cc: sc22wg15@dkuug.dk | Subject: (posix 802) (SC22WG15RIN.232) Draft RIN minutes | | WG15RIN N072 | | ISO/IEC JTC1/SC22/WG15 Rapporteur Group on Internationalization | Meeting Minutes | May 3 and 4, 1992 | Hamilton, New Zealand | | (Unapproved Draft, May 5, 1992) | ACTION ITEM Summary: | | RIN9205-001 - Japan and U.S. to prepare paper on the issues of National | Profiles and profiles in the RGCPA sense for distribution prior to the | next meeting. See my questions/comments below. | RIN9205-003 - Canada, Japan, France and the U.S. to work together in | developing coordinated definitions of "profile", "National Profile", | etc. for review at the October 1992 meeting. | | RIN9205-004 - Japan and the U.S. to develop a paper describing the | proposed coordinated definitions of "profile", "National Profile" | etc., and the associated issues, for review at the October 1992 | meeting. Regarding action items #3 and #4 above, I believe that the current draft "Guidelines for POSIX National Profile (GNP)" (being developed by the Japanese National Body) has good definitions. See RIN 045 document, or WG15 N212, or RIN email #184. Did RIN attendees consider such definitions at the Hamilton meeting? If you did, what are your concerns about the current definitions? Please let me know as soon as possible. If you didn't, I'm enclosing herein excerpts from the GNP Draft 0.04. Please look over them and let me know your comments. > 3. Also, I think that we should consult with POSIX.0, POSIX.1, POSIX.2 and POSIX.18 as well, where similar/another types of "POSIX Profile" definitions may be found [at this moment, only POSIX.1 and POSIX.2 use a term "National Profile" without its definition though]. I'm looking forward to hearing from you all, in particular, RIN members of Canada - Arnie and Patric, France - Michel, U.S. - Hal and Ralph, and Denmark - Keld. :-) Comments on the next step of these RIN action items are also welcome.
