Given that only a little over two weeks remain before the meeting, it seems most unlikely that approval will be forthcoming now. It was not a matter of funding as the USENIX Association had agreed to pay my expenses, nor was it a matter of operational requirements as I have no looming deadlines and nothing scheduled for that week. I just needed approval to travel on government time. We have recently experienced significant management and organizational changes and as a result, I do believe that CCRA (formerly Revenue Canada) is reassessing participation in standards activities as they are not a core part of our agency's mandate. Personally I remain committed to the standards process and hope to continue my involvement in whatever way I can. I also hope to continue as Standards Reports Editor for the USENIX publication ;login:, though that may be somewhat hampered if I am unable to travel. A request to attend the IEEE PASC and WG15 meetings in Nashua, N.H. is also outstanding. (Yvonne/Andrew, could you please cancel the reservations you have made for me. My apologies for the inconvenience.) Dave -- D. J. Blackwood
