Since the POSIX meeting, discussion has occured between POSIX and the C Language Working Group members to resolve this issue. Most recently I have spoken to John Benito, the Convener of WG14 (C Language Standard) at the SC22 meeting. The results of these conversations has been that we discovered that John and his group were unaware of and quite surprised that any issue existed. They are very interested and willing to resolve the problem and would have done so earlier if they had been aware of it. In order to resolve the issue, the WG14 project editor has forwarded a defect report to the WG14 Convener - WG14 N888. This defect report will be discussed at the Oct meeting of WG14. The defect report process is the only method WG14 has to correct this defect at this time, because the WG14 document was in FDIS ballot as the time this defect was discovered. I'll provide additional details once WG14 has met and discussed the defect report.
