Applicants should have sponsorship from their employers and from their National Bodies. (Rolled over from 9705-55 and 9710-15) OPEN CLOSED. Canada congratulates Mr. James Oblinger on his appointment to the position of WG15 Convener. Jim has been a long term participant in the POSIX community and has always brought a fair, balanced perspective to our discussions. It is a pleasure to welcome Jim to the role of Convener at this meeting and we look forward to working with him. Canada would also like to thank the outgoing Convener, Mr. James Isaak, for his many years of service to WG15 and wish him well in his future endeavours. 9804-14 Canada and Denmark - Investigate whether resources can be found to commence a new work item for the System Administration Overview (1387.1) project. CLOSED. Canada notes that this was previously action item 9710-22 and 9705-41. "Canada and Denmark - Investigate whether resources can be committed to further the System Administration Overview (1387.1) project." While some resources may be available from Canada, both the IEEE and WG15 projects have been withdrawn. Without broader support from the members of either or both of those organizations it is doubtful that sufficient resources can be committed from just Canada and Denmark to bring such a new work item to a successful conclusion. 9804-16 Member Bodies to respond to the subsetting proposal in PDISP ballot to 15287-2 (aka 1003.13) and indicate whether such subsetting should be supported in the base standard. CLOSED. Canada has no objection to the subsetting proposal in PDISP ballot 15287-2 but would not like for this to establish a precedent for future profile documents. Each such proposal will have to be considered on its own merits to ensure that the value of conformance to the base standard is not compromised. 9804-22 All Member Bodies to identify specific issue that need to be addressed w.r.t. work in progress and co-operative development TOG/PASC/WG15 and report these to Roger Martin by May 31. CLOSED. Canada supports the direction taken by the "Austin group" and awaits a formal progress report and recommendations for action. However, Canada would like to see IEEE PARs and JTC1/SC22/WG15 NPs be developed and approved by their respective bodies for the 9945-1 and 9945-2 revision work. 9804-24 All Member Bodies to review and Comment on N768 (LIS Techniques) by August 1. CLOSED. The document was reviewed and there were no comments. Canada notes however that with each passing year, interest in, and therefore the value of, a potential future LIS specification declines even further. It is believed that such a specification would no longer hold any market relevance. 9804-35 Member bodies to continue to actively seek candidates for WG15 convener, and to report these no later than the August SC22 meeting in Copenhagen. CLOSED. See 9804-06 above. 9804-36 Member bodies to propose alternative methods for continuing and maintaining the work of WG15 if there is no convener, and to report these at the August SC22 meeting in Copenhagen. CLOSED. See 9804-06 above. -- D. J.
