We need participants from around the world and with various computing environments and Internet connections. We hope you can help by participating yourself or by arranging for colleagues to participate. We especially need participants from non-US regions. The results will help us determine if specific regions need better access to our Web services. We will give each participant a short list of URLs on the society's servers. Participants will access these URLs several times during one week, record the time needed for each document to load into their Web browser, and then fill out a short form on our Web site to submit their results. Participants will repeat this routine a month later, and again a month after that. The test includes the society's Digital Library, so participants will have full access to the Digital Library for three months. We are asking participants to fill out an initial questionnaire to tell us about their computing and Internet environment before the test begins. This questionnaire is online now at http://ada.computer.org/surveys/globaltest.htm. Please note that we may decline to include a participant if we already have several participants with the same computing environment and from the same region. We hope you can help your Computer Society build better Web services for its members. Feel free to contact me directly if you have questions. Otherwise, just go to http://ada.computer.org/surveys/globaltest.htm, and send your colleagues there, too! Regards, Steve Wilcox Manager, Electronic Product Development IEEE Computer Society
