Date: Fri, 4 Oct 1996 04:34:37 -0400 X-Mailer: Microsoft Exchange Server Internet Mail Connector Version 4.0.993.5 MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit SC26 has initiated an NP (closes Nov. 25th) and a CD Registration Ballot (initial close date was Nov 15). SC22 has requested that this CD be delayed until SC22 folks can review it. The actual documents being distributed are from X/Open: Architectural Neutral Distribution Format (XANDF): X/Open Guide and ...(XANDF): X/Preliminary Specifications [Copies could be obtained from your national body under the above SC26 number; online materials are available at: http://www.xopen.org/public/pubs/catalogue/p527.htm and http://alph.dra.hmg.gb/TenDRA SC22 would appreciate feedback from knowledgable WG's on the applicability of this specification to our work. (Will this provide for portable applications software below the source level in the POSIX environment) ... hopefully X/Open can give us some feedback in this area. Please provide comments back by Nov. 15th on the value of this approach, pros and cons of these particular documents. [I will distribute copies as WG15 documents when I get an opportunity to distribute same, but don't wait for this if you can get the information from other paths.] Thanks Jim Isaak (please change email address to the below as of Oct 1996) email: mailto:j.isaak@computer.org http://stdsbbs.ieee.org/groups/people/jisaak.html
