We can also expect a concurent PDAM registration and ballot to be initiated on the PII work (1003.1g) in the next few weeks. This reflects our new synchronization plan, and national bodies should encourage expert review and comment on these documents as part of the registration ballot. In all three of the registration only ballots, a subsequent draft is expected to be used for the actual PDAM/CD ballot (similar to the level of maturity that has existed in this level of balloting previously). The downside of this "new" process is that the registration ballots also take 4 months (and doing the quick approval at the SC22 meeting, which would be possible in these 3 cases, does not engage the tecnical experts and generate the technical responses sought). 4 Months is almost enough time for two cycles of the IEEE balloting process, and it may be that the U.S. wants to take this into consideration in evaluating which drafts to propose for registration balloting. (At this point the U.S. is adjusting for the change in the Synch plan.) Thanks, Jim
