Nobuo Saito - - ---------------------- Japanese Position for NWI on ``TR for Guideline for POSIX National Profile and National Locale'' In regard to JTC1 N3599, the new work item for developing the Technical Report for The Guide for POSIX National Profiles and National Locales, the Japanese National Body would like to take the following position. The working for this new work item should be done as one of PASC project in IEEE. The US National Body is the draft developing body for all the POSIX standards, and it is desirable that the TR for Guide for POSIX National Profiles and National Locales should also be included in IEEE(ANSI) Standard. Otherwise, the inconsistencies will appear among IEEE and ISO standards. As it is necessary to propose a new PAR to start the IEEE project, Japan will be ready to propose it to IEEE. There is some shortage of man power for doing this project in IEEE, but it is possible to do it efficiently through the use of network facilities like electronic mail conference and www functions. We ask SC22/WG15 to endorse this project so that some of the people from several national bodies can join the development of the best TR for the national profiles and locales in POSIX. - - - --------------
