X-Mailer: ELM [version 2.4 PL23] Content-Type: text Content-Length: 2390 Gentlemen, please find attached the UK comments and proposals relating to the WG15/PASC Synchronisation Plan; in essence we do not believe that the Plan is broken, so our proposals are cosmetic rather than an attempt to fix it. Look forward to seeing you all in Copenhagen - if Keld's server will feed me a map of the city at better than 64 bytes per second that is... Cheers, _______________________________________________________ WG15 N___ IST/5/-/15 P316 Date: 12-Mar-96 UK Comments on the WG15/PASC Synchronisation Plan On references to WG15 Rapporteur Groups: "2.2.3 Rapporteur groups have been established in key areas where international technical participation is needed, and joint meetings have been encouraged with the appropriate IEEE groups. (Security, Conformance Testing, Profile Coordination and Internationalization have been formed at this point.)" This paragraph should either be deleted (and subsequent paragraphs renumbered) or should be replaced by appropriate text such as: 2.2.3 WG15 has established, and continually reviews the status of, a number of its Rapporteur Groups where international participation of a technical nature is required on specific issues. Where such groups are identified, WG15 encourages joint meetings with the appropriate IEEE groups. On distribution of 'heads-up' information of new IEEE PASC work items to WG15, add: 2.1.1.1 IEEE Project Authorization Requests (PARs) proposing new or revised work areas within POSIX shall be distributed to WG15 for information and comment. On synchronisation of IEEE and ISO balloting periods, add: 3.1.0 IEEE 'ballot group formation' invitations shall be distributed to WG15 (in both paper and email form if expedient to do so) to ensure that WG15 Member Bodies are aware that an IEEE draft is about to enter this phase. -- _________________________________________________________________________ David Cannon University of Exeter, IT Services Laver Building, North Park Road Systems/Network Programmer Exeter, EX4 4QE, Devon, UK Phone: +44 (0)1392 263939 Fax: +44 (0)1392 211630 _________________________________________________________________________
