While I don't think the JTC 1 Secretariat has ever taken that action, we appear to be on shakey grounds if she started. To be on the safe side, I guess it is important to have something on record. So I have added an agenda item for the September plenary for SC22 to take action to retain those projects which fall into the category of "No CD within three years of NP". A number of WG15 projects fall into that category, according to my records. So this is just an advance warning that I have put into this week's distribution a document (SC22 N1886) which will lead to SC22 action to retain those projects listed below. You may want to look them over and ensure that all should be retained. I am sure the SC22 group will be looking to you for a recommendation in that regard. JTC 1.22.21.01.01 - POSIX System Interface (Language Independent) >>> Put on agenda for withdrawl in 1996 if not registered, this work is currently in transition between development/editors. JTC 1.22.21.01.03.01 - Addendeum to ISO 9945-1: Distributed Services - Transparent File Service >>>CD Registration expected this winter, retain in program of work JTC 1.22.21.03.03 - Addendum to ISO 9945-1: Distributed Services - Protocol Independent Interface >>>CD Registration expected this winter, retain in program of work JTC 1.22.21.01.04 - Addendum to ISO 9945-1: Distributed Services - Name Space and Directory Services >>>Please withdraw per WG15 request to SC22 JTC 1.22.21.03.01 - POSIX System Administration >>>This has been subdivided (or should be subdivided) with the 1387.2 document being the first part ready for registration. JTC 1.22.21.03.02 - POSIX System Administration - Batch Services >>>This was also subdivided, with the 9945-2amd2 element being the first one -- already CD registered. JTC 1.22.21.04.03 - POSIX Fortran Binding >>>The Fortran 77 binding was(is) ready for fasttrack at any time if JTC1 or SC22 feels that is appropriate; at this point, no expertise in Fortran 90 has been established sufficent to do work in that area; we do not expect a CD document in this area for the forseeable future. I'm hesitant to say "withdraw it" but that might be the right course of action given the Fortran 90 - POSIX resources. JTC 1.22.39 - POSIX - Part 1: System API Addendum >>>Expect CD Registration this winter (1003.1a) JTC 1.22.40 - POSIX - Part 1: System API Addendum for Realtime >>>Expect CD Registration this winter JTC 1.22.42 - POSIX - Part 1: System API Security Addendum >>>Please schedule for review in 1996, document is in active development (balloting in U.S.) but no date set for CD yet JTC 1.22.43 - POSIX - Part 2: Shell and Utility Security Administration >>>Please schedule for review in 1996, document is in active development (balloting in U.S.) but no date set for CD yet >>>Jim Isaak comments; seeking WG15 feedback and/or recomendations.
