That action item says that Member bodies to contribute national profiles that they have developed to RIN and WG20. I believe that the action item was valid at the time of May 1994, since WG20 develop a NP for "cultural convention-set registry" and proposed it to SC22, i.e., SC22 N1533. The "cultural convention-set" is almost the same as POSIX locale but may have some extension to POSIX locale, e.g. measurement system. However, the situation have been changed. The NP proposed by SC22 had been balloted at the SC22 stage, and the summary of the letter ballot was reported to SC22 as SC22 N1573. According to the document, 4 member bodies approve including with comments, 4 members disapprove, and 2 members abstain. Note that Germany vote was disapprove. Since it can NOT be said that substantial support was gotten, and 4 yes votes does not meet criteria of NP proposal approval, the secretariat of SC22 forwarded the result to WG20 for consideration and recommendation. The summary of ballot was discussed at WG20 April meeting at Oxford and WG20 develop an response to SC22, i.e., WG20 N271. The title of the document is "Disposition of comments received on a WG20 proposal for a NP on: Cultural convention-set registry (SC22 N1573)". The document says: Based on the voting results in SC22 N1573 and the comments received with the ballot, WG20 has decided not to pursue this NP at this time. The technical comments from various countries have been noted and will be taken in account, if this proposal is resubmitted at a future date. In short, WG20 will do nothing for the time being. Therefore, if we submit our National Profile to WG20, WG20 will say "Thank you for your information" but no action will be taken by WG20. So, I think, the words "and WG20" should be removed from the action item. Best regards, Akio Kido
