The UK member body of WG15 recommends the addition of line numbers to 9945-2 for two reasons: . compatibility with 9945-1 . ease of reference to sections of the draft by other sources, and in interpretation queries, etc The UK does not believe that an often-cited reason - namely that line numbers drift when the standard is translated into other (natural) languages - is a valid reason to exclude them: for standards longer than a few tens of pages the page numbers also drift, and the standards are no less useful for that.
