He tells me that the normative addendum will be going out early next week for balloting as a Working Draft (not, unfortunately, a Committee Draft as I had been led to believe). So we're one step back from where I thought we should be at this point. Nevertheless, this is the time to encourage member nations to submit any comments they may have on the normative addendum. It is also the time for members of both committees to make any remaining technical comments on the draft. I think you will find that Dave Prosser has done a superb job of turning the work of the Japanese delegation, plus the smaller Danish component, into proper standardese. The balloting period will end in mid June. That should give X3J11 ample time to formulate a US position at their May meeting. And it should give the SC22 Secretariat enough time to communicate the summary of balloting to me in time for the July WG14 meeting. For those of you who don't get documents from SC22, don't despair. I have already sent out for reproduction and distribution another joint WG14/X3J11 mailing. It contains a copy of the normative addendum as well as the initial Defect Report Log and a few smaller papers. P.J. Plauger
