These will also be the subject of discussion at the January 1992 WG15 Editorial Meeting in New Orleans. As indicated in the email note from Joseph Cote below, the draft amendment is approved, and WG15 has the option of proposing advancement to DIS level or a recomendation for a second CD. The only negitive vote was from the U.S. and the key concern here relates to the number of technical changes being incorporated in the U.S. balloting process that were not in the draft balloted by SC22. It is my understanding that a draft that incorporates these changes is likely to be available early in 1993, and that this draft may be acceptable as an IEEE Standard (which is the synchronization point for moving a document to the DIS level by our synchronization plan). I have asked the U.S. to review the status here and make a proposal to the January Editorial meeting. There are two likely outcomes: 1) a proposal to bring a revised draft forward for a second CD ballot --- with the main concern being the visability of the substantial technical changes at the CD level so that SC22 members can make sure they continue to support the results. 2) a proposal to bring a revised draft forward for DIS registration --- pointing out to national bodies that substantial technical changes have been made to resolve the U.S. negitive ballot; [and presumably that WG15 technical experts feel that these changes will not change their national bodies level of support for the document]. There are ballots with comment received from: China (which may be more relevant to 1003.0); France, Japan, New Zeland, USA (Negitive). FYI: the report shows the following countries as having responded: Canada, Czechoslovakia, Finland, France, Italy, Japan Netherlands, New Zealand, Sweden, UK and USA; and an abstain from Germany. ============= If you have any strong feelings about the recomendation out of the Editorial meeting, you might forward that to myself and/or Hal Jespersen; if you are unable to attend.
