Also if anybody can attend the May meeting in Ottawa, 19-27, May 1992. that would be good to know in New Zealand as well. Martin (Kirk) , can you also take this into the 1003.7 group, and formulate some coordination response with the associated X3T5 group? WG15 From: ISO/IEC JTC1/SC21 [Secretariat: USA (ANSI)] Title: Liaison statement to SC22/WG15 on Software Management. Source: ISO/IEC JTC1 - CCITT Collaborative Meeting on Systems Management, 25-29 The Software Management sub-group at its meeting in Sydney, November 1991 noted the work currently progressing within SC22/WG15 on System Administration Interface/Software. The overlap between the scope of the work within the two groups was discussed and it was established that while the SC21/WG4 is concerned only with the management aspects of software resources. the SC22/WG15 work is concerned with more wider aspects such as portability, packaging, distribution, administration as well as the management aspects. The software management sub-group considers the following items to fall within the current scope of work undertaken by this group: - Initiation of transfer - Post transfer control - Activation - Version change over and reversion change - Software testing and validation - Patching - Support for license and charging activities (i.e. billing, accounting) - Support for software security - Audit trail (monitoring and query services) - Software delivery, transfer and distribution are outside the scope of work. It is therefore requested that an official liaison is established between the two groups to consider this issue and agree on a common position for future work and collaborations between the two groups. Software Management sub-group will hold its next meeting in Ottawa, 19-27, May 1992. The SC22/WG15 experts are invited to participate at this meeting.
