Martin has identified a possible individual (see note below); if there are no problems, I would propose to ask Jay to attend the meeting so let SC21/WG4 know what work is currently being done in IEEE, and identify what activities and considerations WG4 has; then report back to us (WG15) on these. it is important to note that this should be viewed as a convenient exchange of information, not a developed liaison to WG4, and also that the work in IEEE has not been reviewed by WG15 yet, and as such can only be considered as a sense of the direction in which WG15 may go. Please let me know if you have any other concerns about this. They are inviting WG15 experts to participate in their next meting, May 19-27 in Ottawa. Since this activity has not really surfaced in WG15 yet, it would seem most appropriate to send someone from the POSIX activity, I would propose Jay Ashford from IBM. Presumably we would have to get something onto the Hamilton agenda authorising him to attend so that he could be a bona fide representative of WG15. I haven't spoken to Jay yet, until I hear back from you. regards, Martin ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Martin Kirk X/Open Company Limited Manager, Distributed Systems Management Apex Plaza, Forbury Road EMail: m.kirk@xopen.co.uk Reading, RG1 1AX, England Tel: +44 734 508311 ext 2258 Fax: +44 734 500110 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ================== RFC 822 Headers ================== Received: by decvax.dec.com (5.57/decvax-27Nov90) id AA24699; Sat, 22 Feb 92 03:50:49 -0500 Received: by wessex.rdg.dec.com (5.57/ULTRIX-V3.1) id AA19158; Sat, 22 Feb 92 08:50:42 GMT Received: by xopen (15.11/15.6) id AA21976; Fri, 21 Feb 92 17:58:46 gmt Message-Id: <9202211758.AA21976@xopen> Reply-To: m.kirk@xopen.co.uk Date: Fri, 21 Feb 92 17:58:39 GMT Comments: (j.isaak 31)
