No actions were taken. 2.6.1 Document Structure The Project Editor received positive comments on the proposed changes to 9945-3 (see [N326], section 4.3), and will proceed to implement these changes (see action item 9210-84). 2.6.2 Report from Technical Editing meeting [N349], the resolution of ballot comments on CD 9945-1 Amd 1 (Real-Time), has not yet been distributed to WG15 (see 5.1.4 and Resolution 93-231). 2.7 Rapporteur Group report/status 2.7.1 Security: Lionel Boiteau [N377] Lionel Boiteau presented the report, and noted that RGSec did not request WG15 actions at this time. 2.7.2 Conformance Testing: Roger Martin [N359] Roger Martin presented the report, and noted that RGCT requested WG15 action to confirm [N360] as Disposition of Comments on CD 13210, and to distribute the NWI for Conformance Testing Model [N347] to other JTC1 SC's for review and comment (see Resolutions 93-236 and 93-237). 2.7.3 Internationalization: Keld Simonsen [HTN-4] Yasushi Nakahara presented the report on behalf of Keld Simonsen, and noted that RIN requested WG15 action on National Profiles, Collation Weight limits in DIS 9945-2, and 'C' Liaisons (see Resolutions 93-228, 93-229, and 93-230). Further discussion on National Profiles was deferred to 5.7. 2.7.4 Profile Coordination: Arnie Powell [N368] Arnie Powell reported that RGCPA passed one resolution requesting WG15 action, to determine the appropriate means of advancing POSIX Profiles within ISO (see Resolution 93-232). 3. Administrative topics 3.1 Revised synchronization plan [N121, N352R, N381] Lorraine Kevra (US) reported that the proposed new synchronization plan [N352R] includes a new Section 4 that implements the new SC22 procedures for handling interpretations, and includes minor editorial changes such as the replacement of "TCOS" by "PASC". Members present unanimously approved [N352R] as the new WG15 Synchronization Plan, although no resolution to record this decision was voted on. A related discussion about document distribution issues prompted by [N381] resulted in several actions to address apparent problems (see open action items 9305-32, 9305-33, 9305-34, and 9305-35). 3.2 Review input on Category C liaison guidelines [N306] The participants reviewed the JTC1 Directives concerning Category C Liaisons, and decided that further guidelines specific to WG15 were not needed. Dave Cannon (UK) reported that its concerns in this regards had been satisfactorily addressed. 3.3 Review of Ballot Audit information [N351 attachment] The participants agreed that the information present in [N351 attachment] is accurate and usefully formatted, and decided to create a standing document based on this informtion (see action 9305-37). 4. Actions arising from Reports 4.1 Actions relating to issues John Hill (US) raised the issue of the French position on progression of IEEE Std 1003.5-1992 (see action 9210-63, [N369]), and expressed concern that France did not complete the assigned action to report differences between 1003.5 and 9945-1. Jean-Michel Cornu (France) responded that an investigation into possible differences is underway, but that such a list is inappropriate at this time. The requirement is for a mechanism of coordination between language bindings. Without such a mechanism in place, a second language binding will be accepted only up to the DIS level. France is willing to consider other mechanisms for coordination besides LIS. Dave Cannon (UK) proposed that the interpretations process in the new synchronization plan might address this. Jean-Michel Cornu agreed, but said that coordination prior to approval of the standard is also needed. 4.2 Responses to JTC1 and SC22 actions There was no discussion. 4.3 Proposals relating to IEEE PASC activities There was no discussion. 4.4 Actions relating to Rapporteur Groups [N356] Barry Needham (US) presented the US proposal for improved management of WG15 Rapporteur Groups [N356]. The proposal includes: Rapporteur Groups should follow formal procedures, including meeting notices, agendas, and minutes. The program of work of Rapporteur Groups should be approved by WG15; Rapporteur Groups should provide formal reports to each WG15 meeting. WG15 should conduct a high-level review of the progress of each Rapporteur Group on a rotating basis; if one group is reviewed at each WG15 meeting, each group would be reviewed every two years. Barry Needham reviewed the JTC1 Directives regarding the work of Rapporteur Groups, and noted that the primary intent of the proposal is to implement these Directives, with the benefits that the deliverables of Rapporteur Groups to WG15 would be more clearly defined, and WG15 could more easily ensure that Rapporteur Groups are making progress against these deliverables. It was also noted that the JTC1 Directives regarding meeting attendance also apply to Rapporteur Groups. The discussion touched on whether the existing procedures allow adequate management by WG15 of Rapporteur Group activities, and whether the proposal would entail excessive administrative overhead. The RGCT Lead Rapporteur and all Member Bodies present supported the proposal. All Rapporteur Groups were instructed to review their terms of reference and program of work in the context of [N356] in preparation for a discussion at the October, 1993 WG15 meeting (see open action item 9305-38). The WG15 Convener will ensure that review of Rapporteur Group reports is on the pro forma agenda for all future WG15 meetings (see open action item 9305-58). 5. Project Activities - registration 5.1 9945-1 System Interface 5.1.1 (JTC1 22.21.01.01) System Interface (LIS) {1} CD reg [N382, N383] Paul Rabin (US) gave a presentation [N383] on the status of LIS work and policies within IEEE PASC, and reported that IEEE PASC was considering removing its requirement that language-independent versions of POSIX standards be produced. When SC22/WG15 was formed, the U.S. agreed to provide specifications of POSIX services in language-independent form, to support the development of bindings to these services for multiple programming languages. Within the U.S., the responsibility for developing POSIX specifications was assigned to the IEEE. At that time, the IEEE had little experience in developing language-independent specifications, and SC22 and SC22/WG15 provided little guidance. After investigating alternate approaches, the IEEE developed general guidelines for the development of POSIX language-independent specifications (LIS), and these were reviewed and approved by WG15 and WG11. Drafts of a revision of ISO/IEC 9945-1:1990 in language-independent form have been developed and circulated to WG15 for review and comment. Unfortunately, progress towards the overall goal of developing and using language-independent specifications for all POSIX services has been slow. Currently, the only language-independent POSIX specification that has entered formal IEEE balloting is the language-independent revision of ISO/IEC 9945-1:1990. Additional language-independent POSIX specifications are currently under development by the 1003.1, 1003.4, and 1003.12 working groups, but not yet by 1003.6, 1003.8, or 1003.15. During this same period, language bindings for Fortran and Ada were developed independently of the LIS work. Among non-POSIX standards developed by PASC, the 1224 series include language- independent specifications. For the last two years, PASC has attempted to ensure the harmonization of different language bindings to POSIX services by requiring that a corresponding language-independent specification be available before any language binding enters formal IEEE ballot. A PASC decision to allow language-specific POSIX interface standards to be developed without a corresponding language-independent specification is under consideration because the additional burden of LIS work appears to be jeopardizing the completion of language-specific POSIX standards, because of declining participation in PASC activities, and because the resulting LIS standards and thin language bindings appear to be less useful to PASC participants than thick language bindings. In addition, the proponents of this decision believe that the current LIS methods are not sufficiently mature to justify the necessary investment of resources, and that adequate coordination between language bindings to POSIX interfaces is possible without language-independent specifications. The likely effect of this decision will be to delay or cancel current and expected PASC LIS projects. The U.S. wishes to work with SC22/WG15 to seek alternate means of completing the WG15 LIS projects and to investigate alternate means of satisfying the underlying requirements for which the LIS projects were undertaken. This report gave rise to a lengthy discussion, during which the following positions were stated: Netherlands: WG15 should continue to follow the current NP. It is good to look for other approaches, but LIS should not be dropped until other alternatives have been identified. France: WG15 should not to drop the LIS requirement without an alternative means to achieve coordination of language bindings. Four questions about the IEEE PASC SEC ad hoc report [N382]: (1) problem using 1st binding as reference: requires that all projects for future bindings need expertise in 1st language; problem coordinating amendments in different 1st languages; (2) impact on work plan - what is schedule with and without LIS? (3) 1st binding may have features not usable in other languages, or may not permit good features of other languages (4) how to ensure coordination between language bindings? Japan: WG15 cannot remove the LIS requirement imposed by JTC1 without amending NP's. The real user need is for the C binding; where multiple bindings are present, consistency of bindings on a single implementation is a quality-of-implementation issue. UK: What if the UK offered assistance? John Hill (US) If the US cannot do the LIS work, WG15 can examine other options. France: Having C stds developed in one member body and LIS in another, the coordination would be too difficult. UK Position: In the form currently in use (in Posix), LIS is not as helpful in permitting as full a range of Language Bindings as it was hoped it would be. However, for certain types of problem, eg Threads, it does help to produce a better standard. The UK recognises the SC22 requirement on WG15 that it produce LIS-based standards. On balance, while the UK would like to see the LIS work continue, it recognises the resource problems being experienced by the IEEE groups. Where available the UK would prefer to see LIS drafts advanced to ISO, but is content to accept drafts in Language Binding form otherwise. When the WG11 work becomes available, the UK will encourage WG15 to revisit the problem, and consider then whether that standard would form an appropriate basis for a Posix LIS. In summary, the UK will accept a suspension of the requirement for POSIX LIS drafts. Canada: We didn't expect LIS soon anyway. We don't want LIS work already done to be lost. However, I18N and TM are more important short term issues. Germany: Getting approved standards soon is more important than whether they are LIS or not. The discussion then turned to the underlying requirements for which the LIS work was originally undertaken, and possible alternate means of meeting these requirements. Germany: It would be useful to have a method that could automatically generate LIS and TM. Martin Kirk (UK): The X/Open - MITI project may support this. The primary reason for LIS is to provide an authoritative definition of POSIX services where there are multiple language bindings. Perhaps one of the language bindings could serve as the authoritative definition. Jean-Michel Cornu (France) asked if it would be acceptable for different languages to be used for the definition of different parts of POSIX? The remaining discussion was assigned to a small group. The final result was a resolution reaffirming the underlying requirements on specification methods (see Resolution 93-233), the initiation of an investigation of alternate means of satisfying these requirements (see open action item 9305-45), and a response to IEEE PASC (see Resolution 93-234). The Convener will ensure that the issue "Progression of language-dependent specifications to IS" is on the agenda for the 1993-10 WG15 meeting (see open action item 9305-46). 5.1.2 (JTC1 22.42) Security Amendment {6} CD reg [N343] The re-circulation of 1003.6 D14 would be the earliest registration for a CD. 5.1.3 (JTC1 22.39) Extensions to base {1a} na No discussion. 5.1.4 (JTC1 22.21.01.02) Real-time extensions {4} CD ballot 11/92 [N349] At the October, 1992 WG15, Resolution 92-224 authorized the Project Editor to hold a meeting to produce a Disposition of Comments and to report this disposition to SC22, and Resolution 92-225 instructed the WG15 Convener to submit a new draft of 1003.4 for registration as a second CD. At the Editor's Meeting, negative comments were successfully resolved, and the Disposition of Comments recommended that a new draft of 1003.4 be forwarded for DIS processing. The Disposition of Comments [N349] has not yet been distributed to WG15. A resolution was approved supporting the progression of 1003.4 to DIS and withdrawing the previous resolution 92-225 (Resolution 92-231). The US will send an appropriate draft of 1003.4 to the SC22 Secretariat for DIS processing (see open action item 9305-39). In response to comments from Japan, the US will provide a plan for incorporating additional rationale into 9945-1 regarding use of the terms "byte" and "character", as described in [N349] (see open action item 9305-40). 5.1.5 (JTC1 22.21.01.02a) Real-time extensions {4a} CD ballot There was no discussion. 5.1.6 (JTC1 22.40) Extensions to real-time {4b} na There was no discussion. 5.1.7 (JTC1 22.21.01.03.01) Transparent File Access {8} CD Reg There was no discussion. 5.1.8 (JTC1 22.21.01.03.03) Protocol-Independent Interface {12} WG R&C There was no discussion. 5.1.9 (JTC1 22.21.01.03.04) Directory Services {17} status There was no discussion. 5.2 9945-2 Shell and Utilities 5.2.1 (JTC1 22.21.02.01) Shell and Utilities base {2} DIS The DIS ballot on 9945-2 closes June 6, 1993. Comments and negative ballots are expected. Member Bodies are requested to send electronic copies of ballot comments to the Project Editor (hlj@posix.com). The Project Editor will prepare a preliminary Disposition of comments and circulate this to WG15 in July, 1993. The US will host an Editor's Meeting in conjunction with the October, 1993 WG15 meeting (see open action items 9305-41 and 9305-42). Arnie Powell (Canada) noted a possible technical error in DIS 9945-2 (see Resolution 93-230). 5.2.2 (JTC1 22.21.02.02) User Portability Extension {2a} DIS This was covered in the previous discussion. 5.2.3 (JTC1 22.43) Security Amendment {6} CD Reg There was no discussion. 5.2.4 (JTC1 22.41) Additional Utilities {2b} CD Reg Comments on 1003.2b have been received from Japan [N330] and Denmark [N378]. The US proposed alternate schedules for the progression of 1003.2b, depending on the proposals received from WG15 Member Bodies [N358R]. ([N358R] is the same as [N358], with the addition of item 8 - support of state dependent characters, input from Japan.) The Convener will circulate the report of the SC22 ad hoc meeting on character set issues to WG15 (see open action item 9305-43). 5.3 9945-3 5.3.1 (JTC1 22.21.03.01) System Administration {7+} R&C There was no discussion. 5.3.2 (JTC1 22.21.03.02) Batch Services {15} There was no discussion. 5.4 Language Bindings 5.4.1 (JTC1 22.21.04.01) C Language binding {16} CD Reg There was no discussion. 5.4.2 (JTC1 22.21.04.02) Ada Language binding {5+} ballot? [N369] Jean-Michel Cornu reported that France will support any appropriate document as a DIS, but not as an IS. 5.4.3 (JTC1 22.21.04.03) Fortran Language binding {19} na Lorraine Kevra (US) proposed that IEEE Std 1003.9-1992 be progressed as a Technical Report, and reported on the termination of the IEEE PASC 1003.19 project (Fortran 90 binding to IEEE Std 1003.1-1990), due to staffing problems and limited use of Fortran 90. Discussion topics included: the relation between F77 and F90, the appropriate type of TR, and the means to progress the document. The proposal was accepted (see Resolution 93-235, and open action items 9305-44 and 9305-48). 5.5 (JTC1 22.38) TR Guide to POSIX OSE {0} CD Reg ?/93 US reported that draft 16 is expected to be available following the October, 1993 IEEE PASC meeting. The US will invite 1003.0 experts to RGCPA meeting in October, 1993 (see open action item 9305-47). 5.6 (JTC1 22.37) CD 13210 Test Methods {3} CD Disposition [N360] Jean-Michel Cornu (France) noted that the Summary of Voting [N354] includes comments from France regarding the comparison of ISO 9646 and 1003.3 which may need to be addressed. Dave Cannon (UK) noted that the UK considers its comments on the NP for 1003.3 to have been resolved (see Resolution 93-236 and open action item 9305-49). 5.6.1 NP for Test Methods for 9945, et al [N331, N339] The Convener reported that a sufficient number of responses have now been received, and all responses were affirmative, so it is now appropriate for the NP to be submitted. Dave Cannon (UK) noted that the NP should not promise to produce a complete set of test methods for 9945, since there is no assurance that a complete set will be produced. The Convener reported that [N331] specifies that TM's will be developed first, and although [N331] suggests that the project will be subdivided, the subdivision can be postponed until additional TM documents are available (see open action items 9305-14, 9305-15, 9305-16, 9305-17, 9305-18, and 9305-50). 5.6.2 NP for additional conformance work [N347] See previous discussion of action item 9210-85. The NP will not be submitted at this time. 5.7 National Profile concepts -- Proposed new work [N387] Yasushi Nakahara (Japan) reported the previous events leading to this NP: Japan raised concern in RIN; Japan and Denmark agreed on requirements; RIN asked WG15 to support NP for National Profile; When WG20 was formed, they were asked if they wished to do this work; WG20 reported that they needed first to prepare a more generic framework, before they could consider undertaking this work, but WG15 could develop a definition of National Profiles limited in scope to POSIX; some confusion resulted from use of the word "Profile" in this context; RIN asked SGFS if they intend to enhance TR 10000 to include a definition of National Profile; SGFS said that they do not intend to do this; RIN considered how to proceed; Denmark and New Zealand requested that this work include a definition of National Locales. RIN agreed to again ask WG15 to sponsor an NP for Type 3 Technical Report for Guidelines on POSIX National Profiles and National Locales (GPNPNL). Japan requested that future POSIX standards include appropriate annexes on National Profile requirements, and that the definitions relating to National Profile might be added as an Annex to the 1003.0 TR. A draft [N212] of these definitions is available, but it does not include definitions for National Locale. A new version, including material on National Locale, is expected at the October, 1993 WG15 meeting [N386] (see Resolution 93-228 and open action item 9305-51). There was discussion on the most appropriate means of publishing GPNPNL: a separate TR, an annex to 2003 TR, or a WG15 standing document. This will be discussed and decided at the October, 1993 WG15 meeting (see open action item 9305-67). 6. New Business 6.1 SC7 Program of Work [N340] The Convener reported that there is no overlap between the current program of work of SC7 and the current program of work of SC22/WG15, and noted that although PCTE is not within the program of work of either group, it is potentially of interest to both groups. No action was taken. 6.2 CEN/TC304 liaison to WG15 [N341] The Convener reported the appointment of Keld Simonsen (Denmark) as liaison from CEN/TC304 to WG15, and noted that WG15 SD-6 lists all current liaisons to and from WG15. John Hill (US) noted that the US expects SC22 policies regarding liaison reports to be followed. No action was taken. 7. Review/approval 7.1 Liaison statements and related actions 7.1.1 Liaison to SC22/WG9 (Ada) [N357] The WG9 Liaison Report [N357] raised the concern that the WG9 RRG project may overlap in scope with the POSIX Ada Real-Time project, and proposed that WG15 request SC22 to delay the CD registration and ballot on the WG9 RRG draft in order to permit coordination. The Convener noted that WG15 does not have a basis for requesting SC22 to delay the RRG CD registration ballot, and that CD registration is a necessary preliminary step for coordination. Each Member Body is responsible for determining their own ballot position. WG15 should assist in providing the needed information. The Convener will distribute copies of the RRG draft to WG15 Member Bodies (see open action items 9305-53, 9305-55, and 9305-68). The US noted that the IEEE PASC 1003.4 and 1003.5 working groups were preparing a report on the overlap between the RRG draft and the POSIX Ada Real-Time project, and offered to provide this report to WG15 (see open action item 9305-54). 7.1.2 Liaison to SC22/WG11 (Language Bindings) Paul Rabin (US) requested WG15 to take action to withdraw its previous position regarding the scope and assignment of the proposed NP for a Type 3 Technical Report on Guidelines for the development of Language-Independent Specifications (see Resolution 93-244). 7.2 Resolutions Resolutions 93-228 through 93-245 were approved. 7.3 Action Items Open action items 9305-01 to 9305-65 were recorded. *** Open action items 9305-66 to 9305-68 were added by the recording secretary. See section 1.6 *** 7.4 Issues list The Vice Chair reported that there were no changes to the status of previously recorded issues, and no new issues were recorded. 8. The Chair presented her with a gift from WG15. The Chair also thanked IBM and DIN for hosting the meeting. 9. Adjournment The Chair adjourned the meeting at 1pm, 1993-10-14. JTC1/SC22/WG15 N388 Attachment 1 JTC1/SC22/WG15 RESOLUTIONS Heidelberg, Germany May 14, 1993 RESOLUTION 93-228 National Profile Issues Whereas SGFS, in reply to WG15 N342, indicated that it does not intend to define the concept of National Profiles, and Whereas SC22/WG15 believes that it is important to give a clear and consistent position to the concept of National Profiles throughout all POSIX standards, and Whereas as described in WG15 N342, there are neither sufficient descriptions nor the definition of National Profiles within current POSIX documents, Therefore SC22/WG15 requests the US to forward WG15 N212, N342, N344, and N387 to its development body for review and comment as consideration for incorporation of such National Profile related terms and descriptions. RESOLUTION 93-229 UniForum as Category C Liaison organization to SC22/WG15 Whereas SC22/WG15 has continuing interest in advancing international standardization work in the area of inter- nationalization, and Whereas UniForum is also active in the area of internationalization, Therefore SC22/WG15 instructs its convener to advise UniForum that they could apply for Category C liaison to SC22/WG15, should they so desire. RESOLUTION 93-230 Collation Weights Whereas ISO/IEC DIS 9945-2, Utility Limit Minimum Value, Table 2-17, specifies that the maximum number of weights that can be assigned to an entry of the LC_COLLATE order keyword in the locale definition file is 2, and Whereas the value of 2 is insufficient to process natural language collation sequences, Therefore SC22/WG15 instructs the Project Editor to notify its development body that the collation weight is dependent on the language of the country and that Canada requires a minimum weight of 7. RESOLUTION 93-231 Processing of Amendment 1 of 9945-1:1990 Whereas the disposition of comments for Amendment 1 of 9945-1:1990 (Real Time Extensions) along with the member body votes, caused the SC22 secretariat to proceed with the DIS registration of the above document, and Whereas SC22/WG15 resolution 92-225 proposed a second CD Ballot, Therefore SC22/WG15 withdraws Resolution 92-225 and sup- ports the DIS registration. RESOLUTION 93-232 Advancing POSIX Profiles Internationally Whereas POSIX-based profiles are being developed in IEEE PASC, and Whereas such profiles may be of interest to SC22/WG15, Therefore SC22/WG15 requests its member bodies to report any concerns, issues and recommendations on international advancement of this work to SC22/WG15. RESOLUTION 93-233 Requirements on Specification Methods SC22/WG15 reaffirms the following requirements relating to the choice of specification methods for projects JTC1.22.21, JTC1.22.39, and JTC1.22.42: 1. To provide a clear and authoritative functional specification for POSIX services, and 2. To provide coordination and consistency between multiple language bindings to the same services, and reaffirms the following related objectives: 3. To support easier and faster development of language bindings, 4. To support the development of language bindings that are appropriate for each programming language, 5. To support the development of language bindings by independent Standard Development Organizations, and 6. To support the development of POSIX standards in a timely and efficient manner. RESOLUTION 93-234 PASC Information Whereas SC22/WG15 has a requirement to develop both lan- guage Independent Specifications (LIS) and Language Depen- dent Specifications (LDS), and Whereas SC22/WG15 recognizes that, due to resource constraints, the current approach to the development of PASC LIS standards is having a severe negative impact on the ability of the US member body to develop and forward LDS standards in a timely manner, and that this has an equal effect on the work of SC22/WG15, and Whereas SC22/WG15 notes that the current US development group may discontinue the current requirement for the parallel development of LIS and LDS, for the reasons given above, and Whereas SC22/WG15 recognizes that the current work in the area of LIS is not yet mature, and is the subject of work in other groups, such as WG11, and Whereas SC22/WG15 recognizes that the requirement that LIS was intended to satisfy may be met in other ways, and Whereas SC22/WG15 wishes to ensure that both LIS and LDS are brought forward into the international arena in as timely a manner as possible, Therefore SC22/WG15 resolves: 1. To investigate the most appropriate means of satis- fying the requirements and objectives contained in Resolution 93-233, for which the current LIS methods were originally formulated, taking account of the work of other groups, such as WG11. 2. That it will accept LDS documents for progression to DIS, without an accompanying LIS, on an individual basis where Member Bodies support the action, until such time as it determines the precise form in which the requirements and objectives, for which LIS was originally formulated, are to be met. 3. To request the US to preserve and progress in a timely manner the LIS work that is currently underway, taking fully into account the requirements and objectives set out in SC22/WG15 Resolution 93-233, and to ensure that US standards developed for progression within SC22/WG15 satisfy those requirements and objectives. RESOLUTION 93-235 Disposition of IEEE 1003.9 Whereas there exists a completed IEEE Fortran 77 binding to 9945-1:1990 (P1003.9), Therefore SC22/WG15 invites the US to forward IEEE Std 1003.9-1992 to JTC1 with the recommendation that it be fast-tracked as a Technical Report Type 2. RESOLUTION 93-236 Disposition of Comments for 1003.3-1991 Whereas SC22/WG15 has proposed the CD registration of IEEE Std 1003.3-1991 as an ISO/IEC standard, and 1003.3-1991 has been balloted as a CD with a vote of eleven approve and one disapprove, including comments from France and Japan, Therefore SC22/WG15 approves N360 as the disposition of comments for CD 13210 and recommends the initiation of the DIS ballot. RESOLUTION 93-237 Conformance Testing for POSIX Whereas SC22/WG15 N347 proposes a potential project concerning conformance testing for POSIX, and Whereas conformance testing is relevant to many JTC1 sponsored activities, Therefore SC22/WG15 instructs its convener to circulate WG15 N347 to SGFS, SC6, SC18, SC21, SC22, SC24 and SC26 for review and comment, and assigns coordination of responses to this circulation to the RGCT. RESOLUTION 93-238 Appointment of RGCT Lead Rapporteur SC22/WG15 appoints Mr. Gerry Powell as lead rapporteur for RGCT. RESOLUTION 93-239 Appointment of RGSEC Lead Rapporteur SC22/WG15 appoints Mr. Lionel Boiteau as lead rapporteur for RGSEC. RESOLUTION 93-240 Appreciation of Mr. Roger Martin SC22/WG15 thanks Mr. Roger Martin for his distinguished service as lead rapporteur for RGCT and for the many contributions he has made to the advancement of POSIX conformance testing standards. RESOLUTION 93-241 Appreciation of Project Editor SC22/WG15 thanks its Project Editor, Mr. Hal Jespersen, for hosting the CD Ballot Resolution meeting for 9945-1 Amendment 1. RESOLUTION 93-242 Delegate Notification SC22/WG15 requests member bodies to provide the names of delegates who will attend each SC22/WG15 meeting and any Rapporteur group meetings, in writing to the convener of the meeting in accordance to the JTC1 Directives. RESOLUTION 93-243 Appreciation of Mr. Rabin SC22/WG15 thanks Mr. Paul Rabin for the presentation he gave on the status of the LIS activities within the IEEE PASC and the various options available to continue this work. RESOLUTION 93-244 NP for LIS Guidelines Whereas the general question on Language Independence is clearly the focus of SC22/WG11, and Whereas WG11 has drafted an NP for a Type 3 Technical Report on Guidelines for the Preparation of Language Independent Service Specifications; Therefore WG15 encourages WG11 to proceed with the NP for a Type 3 Technical Report on Guidelines for the Preparation of Language Independent Service Specifications, taking into account the requirements and objectives for specification methods listed in Resolution 93-233. (This Resolution supercedes WG15 Resolution 92-197.) RESOLUTION 93-245 Appreciations SC22/WG15 thanks IBM Deutschland GmbH and DIN for hosting this meeting and especially Ms. Jacqueline Young and Mr. Ron Elliott for arranging this meeting. SC22/WG15 thanks Mr. Patric Dempster for chairing the meeting. SC22/WG15 thanks Mr. Paul Rabin for serving as secretary for the meeting.
